Mission
Recognizing that the jobs of the future are rooted in a thriving innovation economy, TIL was founded with support from the George Kaiser Family Foundation to establish a city-wide strategy for inclusive, tech-led growth.
Working with partners from across sectors, we design and launch economic and workforce development initiatives in four emerging tech clusters, what we collectively call “Tulsa’s Tech Niche”: Virtual health, energy tech, advanced air mobility, and cyber.
Our initiatives aim to support the growth of startups, train diverse talent, expand job opportunities, and spur academic innovation aligned to these interconnected tech clusters.
Strategy
TIL was founded to bring strategic focus to the Tulsa region’s economic development investments. Building upon local assets and Tulsa's pioneering legacy - we're not building these industries from scratch, but leveraging existing strengths and assets and transitioning them to a 21st century innovation economy.
Through a data-driven approach, we work across sectors to design initiatives that fill ecosystem gaps, support and expand local assets, and catalyze inclusive growth and economic mobility. We stay laser focused on developing Tulsa’s strongest emerging tech clusters, what we call Tulsa’s right-to-win opportunities: Virtual health, energy tech, advanced air mobility, and cyber.

Impact
TIL's 2023 impact report, "Tulsa's Path to Inclusive Growth," indicates the organization is poised to drive significant and inclusive growth in the Tulsa region in the coming years.

TIL recognizes that Tulsa’s long-term success requires collective action. And so, in 2022, we released a new tool called The Economy Forward Framework, designed in partnership with the Aspen Institute and Heartland Forward. This tool identified nine metrics for measuring inclusive economic growth in midsized cities. It also includes analysis and goals for Tulsa across those nine metrics. TIL is using this framework to monitor the progress of Tulsa’s innovation economy.
