Cyber Skills and Beyond: Developing the Next Generation of Talent in Tulsa
As one of TIL’s earliest initiatives in the region, the Cyber Skills Center is a great example of how our work continues to evolve in response to emerging technology and industry needs.
In 2022, Tulsa Community College and Tulsa Innovation Labs launched the Cyber Skills Center (CSC), a bold initiative to strengthen Tulsa’s tech talent pipeline and redefine workforce training.
Designed for working adults, the CSC offered accelerated, part-time programs in cybersecurity, data analytics and artificial intelligence. Courses were led by industry professionals and supported by full scholarships for 90% of learners.
Cyber Skills Center Impact:
- 160 graduates across four cohorts
- 71% of graduates represent diverse backgrounds
- Majority earn $60,000+ annually
- 80% report high job satisfaction (8/10 or higher)
- 50+ alumni committed to giving back as mentors or employer partners
Building on this success, the Skills Lab, located at Gradient, was recently announced as an evolution of the CSC. Backed by the Oklahoma Workforce Commission and the State of Oklahoma’s Grow with Google initiative, the Skills Lab will deliver modular, industry-led projects and employer-aligned upskilling designed around the needs of working adults and regional employers.
As one of TIL’s earliest initiatives in the region, the Cyber Skills Center is a great example of how our work continues to evolve in response to emerging technology and industry needs. To read the full impact report the first 3 years of CSC, click here.
We look forward to seeing the Skills Lab serve Tulsans for an even greater impact in the years to come.
